Should we drink more?
It’s generally not recommended to drink more soft drinks, as they can have negative health effects when consumed in excess. Soft drinks are high in added sugars, which can contribute to weight gain, obesity, and an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other health problems.
Additionally, soft drinks are often low in nutrients and can displace other healthy beverages, such as water, milk, and unsweetened tea, which provide important nutrients like calcium, vitamins, and antioxidants.
That being said, it’s okay to consume soft drinks in moderation as part of a balanced diet. However, it’s important to be mindful of the amount of sugar and calories in soft drinks and to choose lower sugar options or limit intake to an occasional treat.
Ultimately, the best beverage choices for overall health are water, unsweetened tea or coffee, and low-fat milk or plant-based alternatives like soy or almond milk.
